Joseph Osolnik

Potter & Woodworker — son of the legendary Rude Osolnik, continuing the family tradition of functional art.

Joseph is known for creating hand-thrown studio art pottery — vases, pitchers, and utensil crocks — as well as turned wooden items.

One of the original owners of The Potters Mark in Gatlinburg, TN (1972–75), Joseph earned his MS from The University of Tennessee (1970–1972). He later opened The Promenade Gallery in Berea, KY (1982–1989) for his pottery sales.

The son of the late Rude Osolnik (1915–2001) — widely regarded as the "Grandfather of Woodturning" — Joseph maintains his father's legacy while continuing his own work. His pottery features stoneware with matte finishes and hand-carved decorative etchings, and he continues producing signature sets of cherry and walnut wood candleholders.

The studio is a distributor for professional equipment including Robust and Powermatic/Jet lathes. Joseph has also served as a director for local craft shows and managed gallery spaces in Berea, remaining an active part of the regional craft scene.
